Messerschmitt Owners’ Club - Annual Rally – 7-10 July 2011

The 2011 Rally will be a 4-day event based at Netherhall Rugby Club – Netherhall Road, Maryport, Cumbria, CA15 6NT.

The Caravan Park and Camp site is situated in the seaside town of Maryport, allowing you to discover Cumbria’s Western Coast and explore the Lake District National Park. All facilities are located within the Rugby Club grounds and the site is available for an extended stay both before and after the MOC event.

Maryport is an attractive coastal town on the Solway estuary, with sweeping views, shoreline walks, golf links, coastal sailing, lively pubs and memorable summer festivals. Maryport has a maritime history of two thousand years of the sea with many attractions and unique shops. Situated just 36 miles (58Km) from the border with Scotland, it offers easy access to the many attractions further north.

Netherhall Park Function Room has the capability of catering for 120 people

Rally Programme:-

    Thursday

    • Welcome to the first arrivals

    Friday

    • Run out to the historic town of Silloth along scenic coastal route. Silloth has a population of about 3000, nestling on the shores of the Solway Firth, facing the hills of Southern Galloway and backed by the Lake District Fells. Silloth is noted for its invigorating but mild climate, its leisurely peaceful atmosphere and perhaps, most of all, its glorious sea views. The town centre is made particularly attractive by thirty six acres of grassy, open space, known simply as 'The Green'.
    • Welcome drinks and barbeque from 6:30pm back at Netherhall
    • Afternoon tea break and visit to Alan’s Farm to view car collection

    Saturday

    • Scenic drive to Buttermere. The lake by the dairy pastures - is 1 1/2 miles long, 3/4 of a mile wide and 75 feet deep. The classic combination of lakes and mountains has made this popular with visitors since the beginning of tourism in the Lake District.
    • Lunch at the Fish Hotel – Buttermere or at the adjacent Cafe for those who want something lighter.
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: The planned circular route back to Maryport involves gradients of 25% (1in4) both up and down. For those who are concerned about the limited climbing power and fading brakes on a KR200, an alternative route will be offered.
    • Driving skill test during the run out
    • Saturday night dinner with Grand Raffle in the Function Room
    • Video show in the Function room with our own bar

Saturday Evening Dinner:-

    • Two course Dinner in the Club Function Room (price and menu to be confirmed but very competitive compared to previous events).

    Sunday

    • Concours d’Elegance & group photo opportunity
    • Partsmart – with 10% price discount for non-collect items (see below)
    • Autojumble
    • Auction – bring your surplus parts or memorabilia to sell or find a bargain
    • Prize giving
